Food Tours New York City

I love to eat and New York is one of the greatest foodie cities in the world.

But it can be overwhelming.

Authentic local experiences are difficult to find. Prices can be extortionate. A night out in the Big Apple can feel more like a food nightmare than a dining dream.

To solve the problem, there are our friends at the Tour Guy. They offer two different food tours of New York City to give you a small group experience where you hear stories about a specific neighborhood, learn about the culture, eat great food, and just have a plain ole’ good time.

Greenwich Village Food Tour

Greenwich Village is in the heart of Manhattan. It was the center of the 60s counterculture movement; this was where Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Paul Simon could all be found at one point in history. Now you can tour around and explore the food. The tour includes:

  • Six stops including a full lunch
  • Walking tour of Greenwich Village
  • Local engaging guide with no more than 8 people in a group
  • All food included

The tour begins in historic Jackson Square park (1811). According to the Tour Guy, “Head through the cobblestone streets and alleyways taking in the beautiful brownstones that line the community. Learn about the history of the Village from colonial times to the beat poetry and avant-garde artistry that has developed the area’s culture and character…Join us for a deep dive into the food, history and culture of Greenwich Village. With an awesome guide, local knowledge and some of the best dishes New York has to offer, enjoy this amazing culinary experience.” You’re going to experience a modern spin on the classic bagel, have a slice of pizza, visit a 100-year-old butcher shop & deli for the perfect sandwich, Italian baked goods, and more.

Hell’s Kitchen Food Tour

Once a poor, working-class neighborhood filled with immigrants coming over in the late 1800s, Hell’s Kitchen is still a melting pot (although it’s no longer poor) featuring food from around the globe and a vibrant nightlife. This tour includes:

  • Six stops including a full lunch
  • Cultural walking tour of Hell’s Kitchen
  • Local foodie storytelling guide with no more than 8 people in a group
  • All food included

In this two-hour tour, your storytelling guide will take you on a culinary tour around the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen and around the world. You will sample noodles from Japan and Asian barbecue. Then you will span two continents by trying Mexican and Indian fusion cuisine. You will have American southern classics and interpretations of Italian ones, as well as some sweet treats. On top of the great food, you will be on top of Manhattan with a rooftop view that gives you a fantastic view of the New York skyline.

I’ve been on a food tour with the Tour Guy and it’s a fabulous way to explore a city. Learning about a place through its food is delectable plus you get to learn the culture and area, too. For everything you get for the price of the tour it’s a real value so use our affiliate links and book a tour…or two.
