If you’ve landed on this page, it’s probably because you have a love for history and travel. I’m Amy French–a historian by profession, a traveler by passion, and a writer of both. I enjoy sharing my love for and knowledge of history through travel blogging as the Roaming Historian. Learning about different cultures is incredibly enriching and I’m always looking for new destinations to explore. Understanding the past can heighten any travel experience, so join me as I explore our past one place at a time. My mission is to provide my readers with background and knowledge so that they can turn their travels into rich, cultural adventures through the history of our most treasured sites and cities.

I have academic credentials with a Ph.D. in history and over a decade of writing/teaching history, which provides the authority and authenticity that today’s travelers look for when considering a travel blogger’s opinion.
